linuxppc|mklinux. never again. well, ok, gimme one, i'll do it again ...
Since the official austrian student union ÖH buys practically only Apple computers,
the interested layman/woman can gain a lot of experience as to the
PowerPC/PowerMacintosh Computers.
Whereas the [borken]
MkLinux Distribution (backup site) was
quite easy to install on a 7200 (no AV),
the Mach Kernel overhead and the chills of compiling my own kernel
made me anxious to install the ppc version. (Besides at the moment I don't have the 7200 any more, and MkLinux won't
run on the OF)
Well, as of sep 25 '97 i have been sitting in front of two 4400 (200 Mhz
604, 16 resp 48 mb ram, 2 gb internal, my linux on a 1 gb quantum fireball external
hd on part /dev/sda4 and swap on /dev/sda3)
what's nice is the fact that OF (IEEE:
1275-1994 open firmware) is forthlike, an open standard and used by
apple,
sun,
acorn and other fine companies ;-)
