- Lazyness does pay off occasionally: I found that the fastest way to rehydrate sundried tomatoes is to nuke them with ~ 1/5 liquid in the microwave for a few minutes. This works fine with a metal screw-on cap half closed (but be careful not to seal it, or it might explode - I won't be held responsible for the consequences!) Add a drop of vinegar and some extra virgin olive oil, shake, and don't burn your palate :)

Grundrezept - nicht vegan, deutsche Version
- 5 dkg1 Butter
- 15 dkg Zucker
- 1 Ei
- ca. 1/4 l Milch
- 20 dkg Mehl
- 20 dkg geriebener Mohn
- 1 Paket Backpulver
- 1 Paket Vanillinzucker
Im Weitling Butter, Zucker, Ei und Vanillinzucker schaumig ruehren. Backpulver mit Mehl und Mohn vermischen und unter Zugabe der Milch darunter ruehren, bis ein nicht zu fester Teig entsteht. In gefetteter und gestaubter Form nicht zu heiss backen.
1Offizielle Abkuerzung 1 dag = 1 Dekagramm = 10 g
Franz' Vegan Version of the Poppy Seed Cake
- 50 g coconut oil (other types of fat/shortening might work)
- 100 g sugar (or volume compatible sweetener like xylitol, maltitol, erithrol, ...)
- 1 packet (250 ml) soy cream (available in Austria as "Soja Cuisine")
- a little bit of soy drink to make a smooth dough
- 100 g wheat flour (whole meal is fine)
- 300 g ground poppy seed
- 1 pack of baking powder
Mix sugar and fat. Mix flour, poppy seed and soy cream, add to sugar and fat with soy drink, producing a dough that is not too tough. Bake in oiled and powdered form.
